Cantina Sociale di Gattinara Gattinara 2017
$72.00Add to cartEstablished in 1908, Cantina Sociale di Gattinara is a local cooperative of growers, embodying a rich tradition in Piedmont that supports family farms in their growth, stability, and stewardship. In the Land of Nebbiolo, Gattinara often takes a back seat to the region’s giants, but do not overlook this elegant red. Bright red fruit command the palate with floral, acacia, and cedar notes; the tannins are chewy yet refined, and the finish is contemplative.

Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino 2019
$109.00Add to cartThis is a great entry into the 2019 vintage that can be enjoyed now, but will also be great laid down for a few years. It has the heft that some seek, but there’s plenty of nuance that comes from their deft balance between the wildness of the grapes and the slickness of the cellar hand.

Celler Piñol Mather Teresina 2019
$86.00Add to cartPiñol makes very cool wines. The Mather Teresita is extra special and features a bit of Morenillo, which is a native grape to the area (think Mediterranean Pinot Noir) and is only sold by the Piñol family. It’s opulent with explosive dark berry aromas, cherry compote, and licorice that begin an aromatic journey into a touch of Madagascar vanilla that shows as the wine opens up. It’s plush, spiced, and candied in the best way possible

-
Chateau de Chaintres Saumur Champigny Vieilles Vignes 2020
$31.00Add to cartWe love the Loire, it’s the garden of France, and the wines almost across the board retain a beautiful earthiness. While the Tigny family has owned this 17th century chateau since the 1930s it was the addition of cellar master Jean-Philippe Louis that they really stepped up their game, converting the estate to biodynamics, hand picking, and allowing for spontaneous fermentation.
The vines that plunge the deepest into the tuffeau soils of the vineyards range from 50 to 80 years of age. Despite the concentration and structure a sense of freshness permeates this wine—making it “très digeste”. Graceful tannins and an assertive underlying minerality contribute a salty-savory edge to the fruit.
