Paolo Bea Cerrete 2017
$199.00Add to cartPaolo Bea is a singular winemaker who commands an amazing amount of respect from wine drinkers who bristled at the hyper-modernization that was happening around the world in the 90s and 2000s. His wines are deeply traditional. This wine comes from the vineyards at the highest altitude in Montefalco, and the resulting wine is intense in nearly every aspect. Despite being so intense it still has a beautiful lift and will get better and better with age.
-
Paolo Bea Pagliaro 2019
$129.00Add to cartPaolo Bea captures the pastoral beauty of Umbria in his iconoclastic wines.
With over 500 years of experience farming in Montefalco, the Bea family has deep generationally driven insight into the region. A commitment to organic agriculture (fused with certain biodynamic practices) set Paolo apart from his contemporaries in the 70s and 80s. Today his son Giampiero holds the reins and his wines are wildly regarded as some of the most exciting and challenging wines to come out of italy. The power and depth of this Sagrantino are monolithic in proportions. Delicious, brooding, dark and ageworthy.

Paolo Bea Santa Chiara 2020
$72.00Add to cartPaolo Bea is a singular winemaker who commands an amazing amount of respect from wine drinkers who bristled at the hyper-modernization that was happening around the world in the 90s and 2000s. His wines are deeply traditional. The Santa Chiara is a white wine produced from Grechetto, Malvasia, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Garganega, in approximately equal proportions, planted in the Pagliaro vineyard.

Patrick Piuze Chablis 1er Cru Montmains 2023
$90.00Add to cartPatrick Piuze, originally of Montreal (not all winemakers working in France are French), worked for some of the greats like Leflaive, Jean-Marc Brocard and Jean-Marie Guffens before starting his own label in 2008. It may be from Guffens that he picked up some of his iconoclastic ways like hand picking his sourced fruit and fermenting the wines spontaneously. The Montmains fruit comes from all three subclimates of Montmains: Butteaux, Forets, and Montmains. He gets fruit from a half a hectare and this wine tends to be the most austere of the three as there is very little topsoil and the vines grow right on the bedrock.
