Dorli Muhr Carnuntum 2020
$29.00Add to cartDorli Muhr (along with Dirk van der Niepoort – one of Portugal’s finest winemakers) are two of the larger names responsible for the popularity of Carnuntum Blaufrankish, which comes from a mere 9 miles from the Slovakian capital Bratislava and the southern reaches of Niederösterreich.
Low yields from organic vines make the resulting Dorli Muhr wines something special to behold. Concentration with a light body is the balance that they seek, and it is made easier with the limestone soil beds.
This wine is silky but still powerful. The color shines and echoes the ripe cherry and wild berry flavors, but the fresh bouquet of herbs and flowers dances off the mineral core and keeps us coming back for another sip. This is a wine that is light enough on its feet to be delicious today but can definitely stand some aging.
Pair it with wild game, charcuterie, or sausages.

The domaine employs organic farming in the vines, with most of the vineyards worked by horse. This wine comes from a Vertus 1er cru and offers aromas of crisp stone fruits, pear, buttered toast, musky peach, and smoke. It’s precise and dry, having been disgorged this year with two grams per liter dosage after 48 months on the lees. It’s medium to full-bodied, pillowy, and precise, with a nicely concentrated core of fruit, racy acids, and a long, chalky finish.
