With fruit coming from the Muncagota vineyard (the same site that current vintages use with a historic name), it’s the perfect window into the excellent flavors, not to mention value, of vintage Italian wines. Flavors like leather, tea, charcuterie, balsamic glazed strawberries, deep forest berries, and smoke all mingle over a backbone of rich acidity and melting tannins. A gorgeous and complex vintage wine that is absolutely worth exploring.

The Ovello is fruity and graceful while still maintaining power. After the fruit sets in you’ll realize that this wine has a mineral-driven edge, with firm tannins and vibrant acidity that are helped along by the clay soils.

Produttori di Barbaresco Barbaresco Pora 2020 (Pre-Arrival)
$99.00Add to cart*This bottle is pre-arrival*
Produttori is a cooperative of grape growers from Barbaresco who collect their grapes together to see them shaped into elegant and ageworthy wines through the expertise of the legendary Aldo Vacca who has been steering the ship at the cooperative for the last 30+ years. An incredible value in Barbaresco and possibly the highest quality co-op on Earth where some of the most esteemed crus in Barbaresco can be found for $100.
The Pora is approceable yet structured, with classic Nebbiolo notes of dried cherry and tobacco. It’s a genteel expression of open Barbaresco with softer tannins and a broad palate that come from the micro climactic conditions created by the proximity to the river Tanaro.

Produttori di Barbaresco Rio Sordo 2020 (Pre-Arrival)
$99.00Add to cart*This bottle is pre-arrival*
Produttori is a cooperative of grape growers from Barbaresco who collect their grapes together to see them shaped into elegant and ageworthy wines through the expertise of the legendary Aldo Vacca who has been steering the ship at the cooperative for the last 30+ years. An incredible value in Barbaresco and possibly the highest quality co-op on Earth where some of the most esteemed crus in Barbaresco can be found for $100.
The Rio Sordo is generous and silky, offering early pleasure and finesse. This is the most recent of Produttori’s cru wines (which means it was launched in 1978, so nothing too new), and while being easier to drink young than some of the other crus it still has a rich structure.

Vietti Barolo Villero Riserva 2016
$650.00Add to cartThis is the highest level of wine from Vietti and is an absolute crusher that can be opened and enjoyed now or age for another generation. The grapes are sourced from the Villero vineyard, one of the most significant vineyards of the entire Barolo area, in Castiglione Falletto. The grapes are gently harvested, pressed and fermented for around four months in steel with regular pump over including maceration that involved the traditional submerged cap method. Malolactic conversion takes place in wood and it ages for 30 months in large oak casks. The nose is full, complex and elegant. Notes of intense red fruit and plum with complex herbal underbrush dominate the nose while the palate is balanced, silky, and all-enveloping. The tannin is present and well-integrated with a long finish. Open a few hours before serving.

$37.00Add to cart“Perbacco” boasts fruit from some of the most renowned Grand Cru vineyards throughout Barolo and Barbaresco. The lineage is there; the price is not. Vietti Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2020
$269.00Add to cartThe grapes for the Roche di Castiglione come from one of the oldest vineyards in the entire Barolo region: Rocche di Castiglione Falletto. The vines in this vineyard were planted in 1940, 1950 and 1968. The grapes are pressed into stainless where they rest for three weeks before being moved into wood for malolactic and 30 months of aging in barrel. The nose of this beautiful wine is complex and elegant. More lifted and less brooding than the Brunate with notes of mandarin, ripe red fruit and rose petal, accompanied by a hint of chamomile. It is fresh, balanced, silky, enveloping and full-bodied on the palate. The tannins are prominent but well-integrated with a long and persistent finish. Decant for a few hours before serving.
