Montevertine Montevertine Rosso 2020
$117.00Add to cartThe story of the legendary Montevertine estate in Radda-in-Chianti begins in 1967, when Sergio Manetti purchased the property and planted two hectares of vines with the modest intention of making wine to share with his family and friends. It turns out he had a knack for the craft, and word swiftly spread in the area about the quality of wine Montevertine was creating from their excellently situated high-altitude vineyards.
The wines have been classified as “Rosso di Toscana” since 1981 due to their strong belief that Trebbiano should not be included in their wines—even though, ironically, they have always been, among the purest expressions of Chianti Classico.
Their vineyards are worked without chemicals; grapes are hand-harvested; fermentations are spontaneous; no stainless steel exists at the estate—only cement and old wood; sulfur is applied conservatively, and only at racking; and neither fining nor filtration are employed.

Montinore Pinot Gris 2023
$23.00Add to cartMontinore is a fantastic Oregon estate that goes beyond the biodynamics they helped pioneer in the area. Today they are going as far as working using the tenets of the burgeoning Korean Natural Farming which focuses on microbiota in the soils of the vineyards. There’s a purity to the earthiness that comes through these wines and we love to see a wine with that kind of natural pedigree at this pricepoint.

Obsidian Ridge Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
$50.00Add to cartThis is a wine that is an exploration of volcanic soil in a part of the world where twenty years ago, they planted a vineyard on an old abandoned walnut orchard, 2,875 feet high in the Mayacamas Mountains that turned out to be a ridge of solid black Obsidian glass. All of the extremes in this site come together to form a truly interesting wine that we think is worth trying for any Cabernet fan.

The resulting wine is beautifully subtle and concentrated with chewy tannins, a distinct stony quality, and a freshness that doesn’t always show up in Super Tuscans.

Philippe Jouan Coteaux Bourguignons Pinot Noir Vieilles Vignes 2022
$55.00Add to cartThis is the weeknight Burgundy of our dreams from a tiny producer in Morey-St.-Denis. This has everything you need and is a relative value. Olivia’s Notes:
-fruit seemed less precise here. balsamic strawberry (maybe even soy?), small Maine blueberries came to mind.
-barnyard-y minerality
