Chateau de Chaintres Saumur Champigny Vieilles Vignes 2020
$31.00Add to cartWe love the Loire, it’s the garden of France, and the wines almost across the board retain a beautiful earthiness. While the Tigny family has owned this 17th century chateau since the 1930s it was the addition of cellar master Jean-Philippe Louis that they really stepped up their game, converting the estate to biodynamics, hand picking, and allowing for spontaneous fermentation.
The vines that plunge the deepest into the tuffeau soils of the vineyards range from 50 to 80 years of age. Despite the concentration and structure a sense of freshness permeates this wine—making it “très digeste”. Graceful tannins and an assertive underlying minerality contribute a salty-savory edge to the fruit.
-
Chateau de la Bonneliere Chinon Rive Gauche Rouge 2023
$23.00Add to cartFor two generations the Plouzeaus have been working to restore the Château de la Bonneliére and its vines to their original glory. The son, Marc, converted the vineyards to fully organic.
The grapes for this wine come from vines that grow on an ancient riverbed and lend a distinct mineral quality to it.
-
Chateau de Montfaucon Lirac Rose 2023
$32.00Add to cartThis wine hails from just across the Rhone river from Châteauneuf-du-Pape in Lirac and comes from a winemaker who returned home to focus on sustainable winemaking in Barossa and at Vieux Telegraphe. Delicious, complex, and highly drinkable.
-
Chateau Doisy Vedrines Sauternes 375ml 2020
$44.00Add to cartWe can wax poetic about Sauternes all day. These naturally sweet beauties are the perfect way to round out a delicious meal or offset a smoky, fatty dish mid meal. The contrast of the sweet and smoky unctuous-ness is one of life’s little joys.
-
Chateau Feuillet Petite Arvine Valle d’Aosta
$40.00Add to cartThe Valle d’Aosta is at the tippy top corner of Italy along the French border and boast some of the highest mountain peaks in the Alpine range. The warm mountain days and cool nights preserve acidity and the sandy granite soils make the grapes struggle, developing character. The wine has a mineral streak but is like tasting the blossoms in the sunny fields with electric citrus fruit.

Chateau Lynch-Bages Blanc de Lynch-Bages, Bordeaux, 2020
$120.00Add to cartWe came late to this and could only grab 2 bottles but the reviews for this wine are stellar across the internet. We suspect this will be gone before anyone gets a chance read this but here’s what we can tell you. 70% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Semillon, 10% Muscadelle. 1990 was the first vintage this wine was produced and the 2020 is the first vintage with new equipment to more precisely control oxygen levels and temperatures. Fermented in oak (50% new) and aged on the lees for 6 months the Lynch Bages Blanc is one of the most rewarding drinking experiences in white wine.
-
Chateau Pradeaux Bandol Rose 2023
$35.00Add to cartA Provençal estate that has been in the hands of the Portalis family since before the French Revolution. Today the estate is worked organically, and sheep graze between the vines for a large part of the year. Their reds are brooding Mourvedres but the rosé is a more balanced blend of Mourvedre and Cinsault. Fermented in concrete, the resulting wine is one of the richest rosés around that is dry with a full body and a rich floral nose.

Chateau Rieussec Sauternes 375ml 2105
$80.00Add to cartAn excellent Sauternes estate that overdelivers at its price point. Acquired by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in 1984, they have steadily been developing a larger and larger following. In 2004 they were declared wine of the year by Wine Spectator. We love this bottle and it will be delicious today, tomorrow, and decades from now (if you can keep yourself from drinking it that long).

Clement et Florian Berthier Coteaux du Giennois Sauvignon Blanc 2023
$27.00Add to cartFirst and foremost the Berthiers are terroir-driven winemakers. While they make plenty of Sauvignon Blanc, their focus is not on producing easy SB, but on producing wines that transparently show where they are from. Luckily, with that kind of focus they end up producing incredible Sauvignon Blanc that is, in fact, terroir driven.
-
Clos Cibonne Cuvee Tradition Tibouren 2022
$54.00Add to cartThis is a special Provençal rose from one of the most venerable producers featuring the little known Tibouren grape as the star. And it’s not only unique, it’s delicious. The organic Tibouren comes from vineyards close to the sea in the shadow of the Maures mountains which provide a great backing corridor for wind to keep the grapes healthy. The wine is made in stainless like most rosés but it spends a year in oak foudres aging on the lees under a thin layer of flor which imparts both flavor and texture.

-
Cosimo Taurino Notarpanaro Rosso 2012
$25.00Add to cartThis wine is an easy recommendation and hopped right out the gates as a staff favorite (especially for Will) showing that no matter the price point you can find wines with depth and soul.
Hailing from Lecce in Puglia (the heel of the Italian boot) where most wine is made in bulk to be drunk out of a jug comes a wine that’s rustic and earthy while still being classic and elegant. This is Grand Cru Puglia, a diamond in the rough?
Cosimo Taurino takes his wines seriously, holding them back for years to tame the tannins and allow them to harmonize in the bottle. This current release is a 2012!
