Vitícola Sileo, Montsant Sileo 2022
$27.00Add to cartIt’s often easy to overlook Montsant for the more well known Priorat, but we think that’s a mistake. The ring of hills that surround Priorat produce more subtle, elegant Grenaches that we can’t get enough of. We love Montsant because the elevation not only leaves the grapes with a notably higher acidity but with a freshness that comes from air moving around the hills as opposed to the valley floor. The Sileo (Latin for to be quiet) is a meditation on excellent and affordable Grenache from the family behind AT Roca and Anima Mundi who source organic grapes from calcareous soils. The wine is grippy with beautiful, lifted strawberry rhubarb pie that’s framed by flint. Delightful, expressive, and very fun.

Since the 70s Williams Selyem has been pioneering the American Pinot movement and making excellent wines to boot. They’ve been working with the Rochioli grapes since 1980, and have produced powerhouse pinot after powerhouse pinot. The 2021 has a core of dark berry fruits with a deeply earthy cedar grove / forest floor layers. It’s deep and delicious.

Yann Chave Crozes-Hermitage Classique 2023
$39.00Add to cartA classic northern Rhone Syrah made from organic grapes that drinks above its price point.
This cuvée is a blend of the estate’s parcels in the villages of La Roche de Glun, Mercurol and Pont de l’Isère. From this broad palette of Syrah terroirs, the wine they made is a marker of the vintage in the appellation: fruit forward, bright, and elegant.

Yves Cuilleron Viognier Les Vignes d’a Cote 2023
$33.00Add to cartThe Viognier Vignes d’à Coté, meaning “nearby vines” is from a sustainable vineyard close to the Condrieu appellation. This 100% Viognier is aromatic and is further intensified a few months in oak.
This is an excellent introduction to Viognier with the tell-tale aromas of apricot, nectarine and floral honeysuckle on the nose. The palate is fleshy and ripe, with excellent acidity. Simply put this is a delicious, mouth-watering Viognier from one of the top producers in the Rhone.

Yves Leccia E Croce 2023
$57.00Add to cartThe wines of Yves Leccia (and reportedly the man himself) have presence. Importers Kermit Lynch liken him to the “Rolls-Royce” of Corsican wines, a moniker that is richly deserved. He has been working the single top terroir of Patrimonio, “E Croce,” a site on a thin chalk soil above a thick bedrock of pure schist since 2004. The wines are elegant, and worth exploring.
