Andria Gvino Kakheti Tako 2022
$30.00Add to cartA continuation of George’s traditional approach to honoring their ancient legacy, this cuvée is made with 100% Kisi, a rare white grape indigenous to the region, produced from 45-year-old vines grown on Cinnamonic soil. After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and fermented with 5% skin contact for five days before being aged in Qvevri for three months. The finished wine is unfiltered, unfined, and with zero sulfur added. This Kisi expression can be heralded as a cornerstone example of zero-zero winemaking. First impressions of this wine on the nose unveil a delicate bouquet of florals. On the palate, however, is when we catch a glimpse (or taste, rather) of the complexity of this wine. It oscillates between dried apricot, tart lemon curd, and honeysuckle nectar. This wine is finely balanced, with a gentle, coaxing acidity, smooth tannins, and a finish that invites a clearer understanding of this wine’s nod to the past. – Ella

On the palate, the brisk acid from the Sauvignon Blanc is potent yet forgiving, with a tropical fruit medley that melds wonderfully with the baking spices and tart cherry of the Cabernet Franc. The soils in the la Orotava are a mix of volcanic and clay. There’s a distinct earthiness and crunch texture to the wines. The Listan Negro Rosado (rosé) is absolutely vibrant and our favorite of her wines. It’s got rich red berry fruit but also a deep spiced cherry core that’s helped along by salinity, smoke, and earthiness.
