Mercante Primitivo Appassimento Private Reserve 2021
$36.00Add to cartThis is a warm hug of a southern Italian wine. It’s juicy and fruit-forward but still soft, velvety, and smooth. We’d say it’s an explosion of flavor like red cherry, raspberry, and a bit of cinnamon just like the other wine from Mercante, however this wine is partially appassimento, which is a technique for partially drying the grapes after picking, leaving them more honeyed and rich than before.

$82.00Add to cartFor 40 years Merry Edwards produced Pinots that could be described as classically California. She retired in 2020 but the legacy continues on under her watchful eye. Today her legacy carries on—Winemaker Heidi von der Mehden and Winery President Nicole Carter honor her accomplishments every day, sharing Merry’s fierce determination and uncompromising commitment to quality in a workplace where everyone is encouraged to succeed.Don’t take our word for it, here’s what the esteemed Wine Spectator has to say:“A stunning white, this leaps out of the glass with aromatic mango, orange blossom and salted ripe melon flavors. Gains complexity from grilled peach, lemon oil, savory litsea oil and toasted herb elements, with a fleshy, creamy texture and fresh acidity.” – MaryAnn Worobiec -
Monteraponi Chianti Classico 2022

Monteraponi Chianti Classico Riserva Il Campitello 2020
$122.00Add to cartWe love the wines of Monteraponi. There’s a lightness to them that can transcend some of the heft that comes with wines out of this part of italy. That’s not to say that they aren’t controversial. They produce wines that are typically more Burgundian or even (gasp) Piedmontese than some of their neighbors but that doesn’t make them any less delightful. They retain acidity, florals, minerality, and a restrained elegance that lifts the palate.
This is their take at classic Chianti Classico. It’s mostly Sangiovese with a touch of Canaiolo and Colorino, and it’s delicious while still being light on its feet (for Riserva Chianti).

Paolo Bea Pagliaro 2019
$129.00Add to cartPaolo Bea captures the pastoral beauty of Umbria in his iconoclastic wines.
With over 500 years of experience farming in Montefalco, the Bea family has deep generationally driven insight into the region. A commitment to organic agriculture (fused with certain biodynamic practices) set Paolo apart from his contemporaries in the 70s and 80s. Today his son Giampiero holds the reins and his wines are wildly regarded as some of the most exciting and challenging wines to come out of italy. The power and depth of this Sagrantino are monolithic in proportions. Delicious, brooding, dark and ageworthy.
-
Paolo Bea Santa Chiara 2020
$72.00Add to cartPaolo Bea is a singular winemaker who commands an amazing amount of respect from wine drinkers who bristled at the hyper-modernization that was happening around the world in the 90s and 2000s. His wines are deeply traditional. The Santa Chiara is a white wine produced from Grechetto, Malvasia, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Garganega, in approximately equal proportions, planted in the Pagliaro vineyard.

Peyrassol Les Commandeurs Rose 2023
$36.00Add to cartPeyrassol produces some of the finest Provencal rosés that with a small amount of age get even better. The 2022 is drinking beautifully right now and over the past year has added an extra bit of concentration and oomph to the beautifully fresh and balanced rosé. The white strawberry, fresh peaches, and citrus notes play beautifully off of the floral spice that has developed after a year in bottle.
