4 Monos Viticultores Vinos De La Sierra De Gredos GR 10 Tinto 2021 1.5L
$60.00Add to cart4 Monos, which translates to 4 Monkeys, is a team of four friends who met while hiking in the Gredos mountains, one of the most profound interesting terroirs to emerge in recent years as we explore the more modern expressions of Spanish wine. An hour outside of Madrid, the Sierra de Gredos range has high elevation vineyards that are a collision of Mediterranean and Alpine influences. The organic grapes that go into the GR-10 are treated minimally, with a light hand in the cellar, resulting in a wine that’s affordable but still highly representative of the Sierra de Gredos terroir. It’s juicy, fruit forward, but still has an earthy complexity, and being in Magnum it’s easy to bring to a party.

It’s cold and we and the vines struggle for sunlight between the unforgiving wind and driving rain. The fact that this wine exists is a bit of a miracle. This wine is made with 100% Arinto dos Açores and is a unique varietal that has adapted to the harsh conditions and expresses an incredible mineral depth girded by salinity that farm the bright grapefruit and underripe stone fruit flavors.

Borachio Resistance is Futile 2022
$39.00Add to cartIf you’re familiar with Star Trek, at least more than I am, then the name for this cuvée may intrigue you. In this open-ended query about the growing predilection for orange wines, Mark and Alicia ask us to consider the constitution of a good orange wine. The composition of this particular wine is almost equal parts Pinot Grigio (41%), Sauvignon Blanc (41%) and Chardonnay (18%). All grapes were de-stemmed and sealed to macerate and integrate for a couple of weeks. Residual grape matter is ushered into the bottle to add dimension, alluding to the holistic approach of the winemaker. A floral bouquet of jasmine and wildflowers is registered on the nose. On the palate, this wine is reminiscent of lemon curd and peach iced tea, with chewy tannins and a smooth, lasting finish. Decanting is encouraged by the winemakers, so if you’re not pressed for time, it might behoove you to do so. Serve chilled and ponder whether resistance truly is futile.

Borachio Summer Nat! 2022
$27.00Add to cartPerhaps we’re slightly nostalgic for the warmer months when it’s high time to imbibe in rosé, but this succulent Pétillant Naturel (Pet-Nat for short) is a welcome respite from the dreary days of December. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc (78%) and Cabernet Franc (22%) from vines in Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale and Forreston in the Adelaide Hills, the grapes are directly pressed before fermenting. On the palate, the brisk acid from the Sauvignon Blanc is potent yet forgiving, with a tropical fruit medley that melds wonderfully with the baking spices and tart cherry of the Cabernet Franc. This wine’s effervescence and garnet hue make it a youthful choice to accompany your holiday gatherings. Serve chilled and, in the words of Alicia and Mark, “open with gusto, or creep the cap off, SANTÉ!” – Ella
