4 Monos Viticultores Vinos De La Sierra De Gredos GR 10 Tinto 2021 1.5L
$60.00Add to cart4 Monos, which translates to 4 Monkeys, is a team of four friends who met while hiking in the Gredos mountains, one of the most profound interesting terroirs to emerge in recent years as we explore the more modern expressions of Spanish wine. An hour outside of Madrid, the Sierra de Gredos range has high elevation vineyards that are a collision of Mediterranean and Alpine influences. The organic grapes that go into the GR-10 are treated minimally, with a light hand in the cellar, resulting in a wine that’s affordable but still highly representative of the Sierra de Gredos terroir. It’s juicy, fruit forward, but still has an earthy complexity, and being in Magnum it’s easy to bring to a party.

Astarbe Sagarado Byhur Sidra Espumosa
$25.00Add to cartA cider from a family with almost 500 years of experience. The history of this family is so entwined with Basque cider production that the two main apple varieties they use in their ciders are the Astarbe variety (after the family name) and the Mendiola variety (after the name of their farmhouse).
The result is ultra rare, a méthode-Champonoise sparkling Basque cider. It spends twelve months on the lees, resulting in a dry, balanced and full-bodied cider with fine bubbles and a long, intense finish.

Bodegas Rezabal Txakoli Rose 2022

It’s spritzy, fresh, and easy to drink. Perfect for chilling and having as an aperitif, but it also has great acid that cleans your palate.
One of the best things about the wine is its salinity, which makes it a natural companion to grilled seafood brushed with olive oil. Try it with prawns, whole fish stuffed with herbs, or a little fritto misto.

Celler Piñol L’Avi Arrufi Blanc 2021
$58.00Add to cartPiñol makes very cool wines. They have a deep respect for ancient vines from cherished vineyards and a balanced but minimalist approach to winemaking in Terra Alta, one of the most exciting emerging regions of Spanish wine. This wine is 100% Garnacha Blanca, honoring the ancestral home of the grape. This wine is incredibly small in production coming from a single vineyard wiht 60+ year old vines; they only produce 300 cases each year. It’s vibrant with mineral driven citrus and orchard fruit offset by honeysuckle, ginger, and quinine. A touch of bitterness on the palate plays alongside the smoky minerality before a long finish with lingering white flowers. Pair with risottos, fatty fish, or white meats.
-
Celler Piñol Mather Teresina 2019
$86.00Add to cartPiñol makes very cool wines. They have a deep respect for ancient vines from cherished vineyards and a balanced but minimalist approach to winemaking in Terra Alta, one of the most exciting emerging regions of Spanish wine. The Mather Teresita is extra special and features a bit of Morenillo, which is a native grape to the area (think Mediterranean Pinot Noir) and is only sold by the Piñol family. It’s opulent with explosive dark berry aromas, cherry compote, and licorice that begin an aromatic journey into a touch of Madagascar vanilla that shows as the wine opens up. It’s plush, spiced, and candied in the best way possible
-
Clos Mogador Priorat Tinto 2020
$144.00Add to cartThe estate of Clos Mogador is a must try for anyone interested in learning about Spanish wine. From the heart of Priorat René Barbier creates this heady Garnacha-dominant blend. -
D Ventura Vina Do Burato Ribeira Sacra Mencia 2023
$28.00Add to cartFrom a producer who practices organic farming and preaches simplicity, this predominantly Mencia blend is just gorgeous. Earthy, chalky red fruits work harmoniously with schisty, stoney tones redolent of petrichor. Tremendously complex and undeniably delicious, we love this with Iberico ham, a sharp Manchego, or even beer-battered cod.

-
Dolores Cabrera Fernández, Valle de la Orotava La Araucaria Rosado 2023
$29.00Add to cartWe love the wines of Dolores Cabrera who focuses on Listán (Blanco and Negro) across Tenerife. She loves 100+ year old vines, and while her husband Pedro helps in the cellar she employs a team of women to pick because she believes they are more deft at picking grapes during harvest. The soils in the la Orotava are a mix of volcanic and clay. There’s a distinct earthiness and crunch texture to the wines. The Listan Negro Rosado (rosé) is absolutely vibrant and our favorite of her wines. It’s got rich red berry fruit but also a deep spiced cherry core that’s helped along by salinity, smoke, and earthiness.
-
El Maestro Sierra Pedro Ximenez Sherry
$28.00Add to cartSince 1832 Maestro Sierra has been producing sherry in a somewhat iconoclastic manner. Jose Antonio Sierra was a cooper who decided to start his own small batch production. The higher status houses didn’t like this and tried to shut him down, but quality and value prevailed and are still doing so to this day. This PX was aged in solera for 15 years and is an absolutely delightful value.

Juan Francisco Farina Los Loros Listan Blanco 2022
$41.00Add to cartThis interesting wine comes from the Valle de Güímar, a small DO on the eastern coast of Tenerife. The area is particularly know for white wines made with Listan Blanco grapes that are lifted by the trade winds blowing off the Atlantic, keeping temperatures low. His small operation makes very interesting expressions—this wine, for example, spends time under flor and develops similarities to a sherry while maintaining its volcanic, earthy freshness. Absolutely fascinating, absolutely delicious. (If you are looking for crisp, easily accessible Listan we’d recommend looking elsewhere as this is a delightful, but full bodied complex, pensive Listan.)

La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Rioja Reserva 2017

This expression is seven blended Albariño plots that are vinified separately and aged on the lees with weekly batonnage. The resulting win is beautifully textured and aromatic with an explosive nose of juicy Meyer lemon, zest, and white flowers framed by sea salt. Over a glass or two it will open into more expressive white peaches, juicy apples, and herbs all set over the granitic mineral core.
-
Licia Albarino 2023
$22.00Add to cartWe absolutely love this wine. An Albariño from Rias Baixas, the northwestern-most part of Spain, the Licia is crisp and precise and tastes of the decomposed granite that comprises the soils in the region.

Nordes Gin 700ml
$50.00Add to cartDespite what you might think, the Spanish drink more Gin per capita than any other location on earth—primarily in Gin and Tonics which are served in huge, aroma enhancing glasses. Nordes is one of the best gins for that purpose. This Galician gin has eleven botanicals that are all macerated and distilled separately, one of the most impactful and interesting is Salicornia (a native sea vegetable that lends salinity and mineral maritime flavors. Overall the gin is fresh, fruity, and citrusy from lemon verbena and Albariño which is used to make the base distillate, but the palate has a bit more spice and a subtle touch of juniper. Absolutely delicious.
