Domaine Taupenot-Merme Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru 2008
$453.00Add to cartWith land in both the Cote de Nuits and Cote de Beaune, Romain Taupenot and his sister Virginie produce nineteen wines across seventeen appellations. Most of their holdings are premier or grand cru, all enviably placed with old vines. The wines are excellent, complex, and terroir-driven.

Dorli Muhr Carnuntum 2020
$29.00Add to cartDorli Muhr (along with Dirk van der Niepoort – one of Portugal’s finest winemakers) are two of the larger names responsible for the popularity of Carnuntum Blaufrankish, which comes from a mere 9 miles from the Slovakian capital Bratislava and the southern reaches of Niederösterreich.
Low yields from organic vines make the resulting Dorli Muhr wines something special to behold. Concentration with a light body is the balance that they seek, and it is made easier with the limestone soil beds.
This wine is silky but still powerful. The color shines and echoes the ripe cherry and wild berry flavors, but the fresh bouquet of herbs and flowers dances off the mineral core and keeps us coming back for another sip. This is a wine that is light enough on its feet to be delicious today but can definitely stand some aging.
Pair it with wild game, charcuterie, or sausages.

Foxen Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir 2020
$50.00Add to cartFoxen is a legend in Santa Barbara wine country. Founded by Dick Doré and Bill Wathen in the late 70s it wasn’t until the late 80’s that they got their license (the 13th in the region which now is home to over 200). They work with some of the best fruit in the region where winemaker David Whitehair seeks to express the fruit cleanly. This fruit comes from the cooler pinot plots of Santa Maria which is closer to the coast than Foxen Canyon. The wine is a delightful pinot with all the hallmarks of fruit that benefits from a big shift between the night and day temperatures, and like all great Santa Barbara wines there’s a distinct tell of salinity.

Francois Labet Bourgogne Pinot Noir Vielles Vignes 2022
$41.00Add to cartThis is a delicious example of a young Burgundy. It’s from a family that works some of the most esteemed vineyards in the region organically and focuses on purity of flavors in the bottle. Francois’s son Edouard has taken over winemaking in recent years and has lightened the wines a bit. The wine is supple, almost taut, but still has a generosity of flavors, especially bright red berries, which grow with exposure to air. Sweet earth and a little white pepper spice glide around the rich core of strawberries and raspberry fruit, all framed by well-integrated tannins that give it a firm but polite grip. This is a sophisticated wine that way over-delivers at its price point.

La Stoppa, Emilia Camporomano , 2012
$48.00Add to cartThese wines always age so well. Hints of iron on the palate, dried apricot, and golden raisin are underpinned by cherry wood, balsamic, and tea notes. Super cool wine from Italy that is excellent with game bird.
Made from 25-40 year old barbera wines, with a long maceration to give a sturdiness to the wines to age.
-
Lioco Mendocino County Pinot Noir 2022
$32.00Add to cartPinot Noir loves a cool climate, so the strong influence of the cold Pacific air is the perfect place to grow this grape. The vintage was difficult for growers, meaning that the fruit that did make it to the winemakers was concentrated and expressive—perfect for Pinot lovers. Blending fruit from four sites around the county allowed Lioco to produce a gorgeously balanced wine that takes the best characteristics from each of their sites to produce a wine that tastes like Northern California: brambly coastal berries (cherry, black raspberry), pine resin, dried tobacco, iron, salinity, and blue florals.
