Barone di Villagrande Etna Bianco Superiore 2023
$28.00Add to cartWith roots dating back to the 18th century, Barone di Villagrande Winery is one of the oldest estates on the slopes of Mount Etna, embodying centuries of winemaking tradition. Crafted from Carricante grapes grown in high-altitude vineyards, this Bianco Superiore exudes aromas of citrus, white flowers, and a saline minerality that mirrors the sea breeze sweeping across the Sicilian coast. The vintage experienced a temperate growing season marked by mild temperatures and gentle breezes, allowing for optimal fruit development and balanced acidity in the grapes. Sicilian to the core.

Massimo Lentsch Etna Bianco 2021
$30.00Add to cartThis 100% Carricante white Etna Bianco is harvested from the north-facing Gabelle vineyard, which is situated on a steep hillside at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level and whose soils are part stony alluvial while upper parts are sandy and rich in lava blocks and volcanic deposits. The resulting wine reveals a bifurcated climactic influence of volcanic and maritime. Harvest is completed by hand before the grapes are destemmed and lightly pressed. A short, cold maceration on the skins quickly ensues, after which the grapes are removed from the must. The juice is transferred to ferment in stainless steel vats before aging on the lees with bâtonnage for a minimum of six months. The wine is a soft, straw-yellow hue, which shimmers with gold flecks. The nose presents sweetpea and blossom notes peppered with a gentle herbaceousness, like sun-dried sprigs of rosemary. On the palate, this wine conveys a similar delicacy with notes of lychee, lemon pith, and waxy white fruits. Slowly, the fruit gives way to a true-to-form expression of terroir as volcanic minerality zips across the palate while a rolling salinity cuts through. A lingering finish leaves one yearning for more, as this precise and balanced wine could perfectly complement a vongole pasta or grilled aubergine.

Tenuta Rapitala Grillo Viviri 2023
$20.00Add to cart“I’m not a fan of most Grillo—they mostly taste like cheap white wine! They are effortless, but in a bad way. I’m not above calling them insipid, but this wine has real character. It’s textured with great aromatics and you can tell the producers spent time working to make an excellent wine for a low price. I love it.” -David

Vicus Irpania Falanghina 2024
$25.00Add to cartFalanghina is one of the best “everyday” grapes of Italy and in Naples, the Amalfi, and Campania it makes noteworthy, if easy, white wines. This example comes from a sustainability-focused, female owned winery in Campania. This wine is somewhere between sea breeze and inland herbs and is a really tasty example of what the grape can do.
