Produttori del Barbaresco , Barbaresco 1970
$235.00Add to cartThis is a wine at the peak of its development. With fruit coming from the Muncagota vineyard (the same site that current vintages use with a historic name), it’s the perfect window into the excellent flavors, not to mention value, of vintage Italian wines. Flavors like leather, tea, charcuterie, balsamic glazed strawberries, deep forest berries, and smoke all mingle over a backbone of rich acidity and melting tannins. A gorgeous and complex vintage wine that is absolutely worth exploring.

Proidl Senftenberg Riesling Alte Reben 2021
The Proidl family winery operates somewhere between tradition and modernity. The Proidls see themselves as craftsmen and mountain winegrowers with a past (they’ve been working the sites since 1738) and a promising future. They are minimalists and want to showcase wines that are made with patience and precision. The results are as precise as one would hope.
The Riesling we are sharing has classic hallmarks of a Riesling grown on granite soils. There’s a fine herbal, savory component that plays off fresh fruit like peach, young citrus, and tart apples, but the mineral core, along with the fresh acid and long finish, makes this a wine that we can see ourselves enjoying just as much (if not more!) ten years from now.
Pair with almost any food, but this will shine with Thai.

Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
$275.00Add to cartQuilceda Creek is singularly focused on making incredible Cabernet and live by the motto: “the best Cabernet we’ve ever made is the next one.” In less than 20 years, they’ve made seven 100-point wines. The wines are big and beautifully complex—the perfect candidate for long aging (but generous enough to enjoy now). Among other high praise (multiple 100 point scores) critic Jeb Dunnuck wrote “This is unquestionably up with the greatest vintages of this cuvée ever made.”

Railsback Freres Cuvee Speciale Le Carignane California Red Wine 2021
$41.00Add to cartThis wine was inspired by the wines of sommelier cult producer, Maxime Magnon, and Beaujolais’ Gang of Four in Morgon, and the Railsback brothers decided to make a whole-cluster Carignan using partial carbonic maceration, which makes for a juicy-fruited, crushable red that can take a chill. -

Ridge Lytton Springs 2022
$89.00Add to cartThe Ridge Lytton Springs wine is the second step up in the storied producer’s Zinfandel offerings. Celebrating their 50th vintage from this old vine site (that already had 80 year old vines on the property) the wine is Zin dominant with a bit of Petite Sirah, Carignane, and a kiss of Alicante Bouschet. It has a complex nose of boysenberry, cigar box, anise and sage, and is full-bodied with mouth coating tannins and balanced acidity to round it out. Notes of plum, blackberry, mineral, pepper, and dark chocolate play on the tongue. Yum.

Ridge Three Valleys Sonoma County 2021
$45.00Add to cartIs Ridge the best American producer? Maybe, the Montebello is a truly transcendent bottle of wine.
The Three Valleys bottling is the perfect intro to Zinfandel. It’s big and plummy and generous. It’s a fun, full-bodied bottle that showcases what Zin can be in the right hands.
This is a perfect choice if you are happy with the warmer weather but still want something dark and even a little brooding. It’s like curling up with a good crime drama. I’d recommend pairing it with Elaine May’s Mikey & Nicky.

Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne 2019
$150.00Add to cartA legendary name in Barolo that was borne out of dedication to craft, not inherited vineyards. Luciano Sandrone was the son of a carpenter who grew from a small plot in Cannubi to one of the most respected names in the region. He innovated while retaining classic elements threading the needle between modern and traditional during the Parker days. This 2018 Le Vigne is a wine to set in your cellar and forget about for the next decade.
-
Seabra Xisto Ilimitado Tinto 2021
$36.00Add to cartA delicious red from Luis Seabra (possibly the single most important Portuguese producer of the last two decades) who has spent the last years leading a moment of young, independent winemakers to explore historical vineyards, indigenous grapes, and old techniques. His own goal is to prove that the Douro can produce terroir-driven still wines through minimal intervention in the vineyards and winery (on top of an encyclopedic understanding of both). This “cru” is a field blend from schist heavy soils. This Touriga Franca driven blend comes from sustainably farmed vineyards in Cima Corgo. The wine aromas are high toned with red and blue fruit, wet stones, and violets. The palate is a little more red than blue, think cherry and pomegranate while white pepper, slate, and herbs sit on top of the juicy fruit. Ultimately a fresh and delicious choice.
