Textura Encoberta Tinto 2018
$41.00Add to cartTextura comes from Marcelo Araujo, an incredibly passionate wine lover who launched the project in 2018 in the Dão region of Portugal with his family who relocated from Brazil. The vineyards are nestled against Portugals tallest inland mountain region (the Serra de Estrela) and produce incredible native varietals, even if you’ve never heard of the grapes they are growing.
The winemaking is led by Mariana Salvador with the consulting help of the legendary Luis Seabra who has trained the next generation of Portuguese winemakers focused on productions terroir-driven, complex wines. Clearly Mariana has talent as a winemaker (and student) and has made one of our favorite wines in the last few years.
Wine Enthusiast has this to say about this 2018 vintage: “An impressively rich wine, packed with firm tannins and structured black fruits. This is dense with pepper and spices along with succulent acidity.”

Vietti Barolo Villero Riserva 2016
$650.00Add to cartThis is the highest level of wine from Vietti and is an absolute crusher that can be opened and enjoyed now or age for another generation. The grapes are sourced from the Villero vineyard, one of the most significant vineyards of the entire Barolo area, in Castiglione Falletto. The grapes are gently harvested, pressed and fermented for around four months in steel with regular pump over including maceration that involved the traditional submerged cap method. Malolactic conversion takes place in wood and it ages for 30 months in large oak casks. The nose is full, complex and elegant. Notes of intense red fruit and plum with complex herbal underbrush dominate the nose while the palate is balanced, silky, and all-enveloping. The tannin is present and well-integrated with a long finish. Open a few hours before serving.

Vietti Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2020
$269.00Add to cartThe grapes for the Roche di Castiglione come from one of the oldest vineyards in the entire Barolo region: Rocche di Castiglione Falletto. The vines in this vineyard were planted in 1940, 1950 and 1968. The grapes are pressed into stainless where they rest for three weeks before being moved into wood for malolactic and 30 months of aging in barrel. The nose of this beautiful wine is complex and elegant. More lifted and less brooding than the Brunate with notes of mandarin, ripe red fruit and rose petal, accompanied by a hint of chamomile. It is fresh, balanced, silky, enveloping and full-bodied on the palate. The tannins are prominent but well-integrated with a long and persistent finish. Decant for a few hours before serving.
