Piñol makes very cool wines. They have a deep respect for ancient vines from cherished vineyards and a balanced but minimalist approach to winemaking in Terra Alta, one of the most exciting emerging regions of Spanish wine. The Mather Teresita is extra special and features a bit of Morenillo, which is a native grape to the area (think Mediterranean Pinot Noir) and is only sold by the Piñol family. It’s opulent with explosive dark berry aromas, cherry compote, and licorice that begin an aromatic journey into a touch of Madagascar vanilla that shows as the wine opens up.
