An exceptional Barbera from the storied Vietti winery. Vietti has always been committed the barbera grape. The family makes 4 distinct barbera displaying the versatility and greatness of the grape. While nebboiolo dominates the discussion of great wines in Piedmont, the Vietti winery has always approached barbera with the same seriousness with which they approach Barolo.
La Crena Barbera is sourced from the Asti DOCG with sandier soils, displaying iron a subtone to the big, rich fruit. Additionally French oak barrels are employed in the aging of this wine embuing the tannins with a sort of softness and richness. This is a big powerful barbera that is a good cross over for cabernet, Brunello and Rioja drinkers.
