San Bartolo Mezcal Tobalá Quiegolani Joven Mezcal Artesanal 750ml

San Bartolo Mezcal is rooted in the traditions of Oaxaca, where generations of craftsmanship continue to shape the region's remarkable agave spirits. Guided by four core values—tradition, quality, culture, and honesty—the distillery focuses on preserving the art of mezcal-making while sharing its unique character with a wider audience. It's a straightforward philosophy: respect the traditions, work with great people, and let the quality of the mezcal speak for itself.

This particular expression comes from Santa María Quiegolani, Oaxaca, where fifth-generation Maestro Mezcalero Enrique Díaz Cruz brings his family's knowledge and experience to the production. Made entirely from Tobalá (Agave potatorum), one of the more highly regarded agave varieties in mezcal production, this is a Mezcal Artesanal bottled as a Joven, meaning it is unaged and allowed to express the natural character of the agave without the influence of wood. Presented in a 750ml bottle at 45% ABV, it's an expression that puts the agave and the craftsmanship behind it front and center.

What makes this mezcal so compelling is the opportunity to experience Tobalá in its purest, most expressive form. With no barrel aging to soften or reshape its character, the agave takes center stage, offering the kind of depth, nuance, and individuality that makes exploring mezcal so fascinating. There's something particularly appealing about a spirit that brings together five generations of knowledge and an agave with such a distinctive personality. For anyone curious about what lies beyond the more familiar Espadín, San Bartolo Tobalá is a wonderful place to venture next.
