Villa Bucci

The Prestigious Marche Estate Behind the World’s Most Collectible White Wines

Founded in 1983 by the visionary Ampelio Bucci, this estate from Italy’s Marche region turned Verdicchio into one of the world’s most collectible white wines, even earning the prestige of being named as the world’s best white wine in 2019 by Wine Enthusiast. The Villa Bucci winery took shape in Ostra Vetere in the Marche hinterland a few kilometers from the Adriatic Sea, near Senigallia.

The breeze coming from the nearby Adriatic Sea mitigates the sunny days and guarantees cool nights. The vineyards of this estate consist of limestone and clay soil, ideal for transferring the signature characteristics of the wines of Villa Bucci: complexity, elegance and minerality. Primarily grown here are Verdicchio grapes, the most well-known and widespread white grape variety in the Marche region. These grapes are characterized by a greenish shade even in full maturation, while maintaining golden hues. Alongside Verdicchio grapes, a smaller portion of the vineyard is dedicated to growing Montepulciano and Sangiovese black grapes.

In 2024, the Veronesi family acquired the estate, carrying Bucci’s pioneering spirit into a new era. Together, they’re preserving everything that made Villa Bucci iconic: old vines, organic farming, and that haunting, Burgundian depth of flavor. The wines are still made slowly in the underground cellar, fermented naturally, and aged in 70-year-old Slavonian oak barrels that whisper complexity, not wood. Ampelio Bucci remains the estate’s guiding light, ensuring that every bottle stays true to its roots while embracing a new generation’s creativity. The result is pure Verdicchio poetry — structured, mineral, and unforgettable, the kind of wine that proves Italy’s future still begins in its oldest vineyards.
