Tenmile Distillery
New York Spirits From Locally Sourced Grains
Tenmile Distillery operates out of a beautifully renovated dairy barn on 70 acres in the Oblong Valley. The copper stills, mash tun and vodka column were built by Forsyths in Rothes, Scotland. Master Distiller Shane Fraser, who is also from Scotland, has 30 years of experience producing single malt whisky. The massive glass wall surrounding our production floor is emblematic of the transparency Tenmile Distillery seeks to always provide when it comes to their process, ingredients and commitment to their customers.
Tenmile has worked hard to source everything locally and in an ideal year all the wheat and barley grain is grown by local farmers in Dutchess or Columbia Counties. (In a non-ideal year all the wheat or barley is still grown in NY State, but further outside their 30-mile local radius due to the vagaries of nature.)
Master distiller Shane Fraser has extensive experience producing handmade, small-batch whisky and before coming to Tenmile, he served as Master Distiller for Wolfburn Distillery, the most northerly malt whisky distillery in Scotland. At Tenmile Distillery, Shane has developed an innovative, unique New York State whisky, made in the Scottish style. Tenmile Distillery is focused on making hand-crafted single malt whisky, gin, and vodka the way they were intended to be made, cutting no corners and using only the best ingredients.
