Soldera
A Pioneer of the Natural Wine Movement, Crafting Wines That Last Decades
Podere Case Basse, home to Soldera, is a world-renowned estate where Sangiovese is cultivated entirely by hand, organically and with minimal intervention, producing wines of exceptional purity, structure, and longevity. Founded in the 1970s by Gianfranco and Graziella Soldera and now guided by their daughter Monica and husband Paolo, the winery thrives on sun-drenched, mineral-rich volcanic soils, meticulous vineyard selection, and a philosophy that places nature and terroir at the center of every decision.
Case Basse is an estate covering over 23 hectares at an altitude of 320 meters, in the southwestern area of Montalcino, the area par excellence for growing the Sangiovese variety. The land possesses a hilly terrain, soil of volcanic origin, good drainage, rich in minerals but not very fertile; a dry climate with lots of sun; a pure and varied ecosystem.
Soldera Case Basse boasts a very small and exclusive production (an average of 1200 cases a year), which is the result of completely natural vine growing and winemaking processes. No weedkillers or other chemical products are used, the soil is only fertilized with organic substances, and the vine rows are worked by hand. In the winemaking process, the grapes are carefully sorted, pumped over, devatted in Slavonian oak barrels, and bottled directly without filtering. The result is winemaking excellence, a great wine that stands out for its harmony, elegance, complexity and naturalness.
