Santi

Native Grapes Showcasing a Distinct Winemaking Philosophy

Santi traces its origins to 1843, when Carlo Santi established a wine cellar in the village of Illasi situated behind the Lessini Mountains, between the hills of Colognola and Lavagno. Santi is known and respected for its Veneto and Trentino wines. Cantina Santi made the decision to show its love of Valpolicella and the expertise developed during over a century of history, using only grapes native to this area, with a distinct preponderance of Corvina, a variety with huge fruity potential and if properly managed in the rows and in the cellar, it produces modern, pleasant wines.

Situated in the heart of the most acclaimed wine growing zones in the Veneto near Lake Garda, Santi is devoted to the production of Soave Classico, Pinot Grigio, Valpolicella and Amarone. These wines are mainly crafted from estate-grown fruit, or from long-standing relationships under the supervision of the Santi winemaking team. Santi has fully renovated the original winery that accommodates its modern winemaking facility and aging cellar.

Santi owns a distinct winemaking philosophy that has become a cultural identity. The cornerstones of Santi style are: Corvina, the lord of this terroir, whose presence in a blend ensures the wine has an elegantly fruity style; large barrels typical of ancient Italian tradition, which allow better oxygenation in the long ageing needed for wines to be cellared; local wood: in addition to oak, Santi uses barrels made from typical native wood including cherry, chestnut and small amounts of acacia.
