Rosenblum

The Legacy of Kent Rosenblum, “The King of Zin”

In 1972, Kent Bosenblum, a veterinarian, started winemaking in the basement of his San Francisco East Bay home. The newfound hobby transferred into a passion that could not be ignored and became his new career path. In 1978, Rosenblum Cellars opened in Alameda, California. When most of the established wineries in California were focused on their estate-grown wines, Kent chose to explore some of the unrecognized and underappreciated grape-growing areas of Northern California and met families who had been growing grapes for generations; dedicated growers passionate about their vineyards who worked tirelessly to grow the best grapes possible from old vines their families had planted.

As one of California’s original “urban” wineries and a founding member of ZAP (Zinfandel Advocates & Producers), Rosenblum Cellars has earned more than fifty 90+ point scores from leading publications while staying true to their roots of crafting soulful wines that celebrate both vineyard and grower. Kent’s distinctive style put Zinfandels on the map and helped inspire new generations of winemakers. Today, their modern-day visionaries continue Kent’s legacy by exploring California’s most expressive vineyards, redefining tradition, and creating bold, approachable wines designed to resonate with fans old and new.
