Quilceda Creek

A Dedicated Cabernet Sauvignon Producer From the Columbia Valley

In 1974, Alex Golitzin began making wine as a hobby. Under the guidance of his uncle, the legendary André Tchelistscheff of Beaulieu Vineyard, he produced a single barrel of Cabernet Sauvignon. Tchelistscheff encouraged him to take it further. Golitzin listened, and in 1979 he bonded his winery under the name Quilceda Creek. Renowned for their concentration, complexity, age-ability, and balance, these wines share qualities with the greatest Cabernets of California, yet they possess a distinctive character that could only be from Washington. Quilceda Creek is a seminal, iconic winery, and though they have come far from their humble beginnings, the goal remains the same: produce the best wine possible, and then do it even better next year.

They boast an exclusive portfolio of vineyards in the Columbia Valley AVA sub-appellations of Horse Heaven Hills and Red Mountain, including some of Washington State’s most historic and revered vineyard properties. Soil features deep, sandy loam, and most vineyards feature high density planting. Each site experiences a strong diurnal temperature shift, with temperatures dropping at night, contributing to balanced, long-lived wines with lovely natural acidity. Meticulously farmed by their crew year after year, Quilceda Creek consistently produces acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignons that set the standards for exceptional quality.
