Thanks to the will of two generations, the Château de la Bonneliére regained its nobility and its original destiny - vineyards and wine. In 1976, Pierre Plouzeau bought the family property, renovated the castle and replanted the vineyards and in 1989, a modern winery was born. Pierre's son, Marc, took over the domaine in 1999 and continued to develop the estate, going fully organic and perfecting the cellar.
The vineyard of 20 hectares is divided into three types of soil (gravel, clay limestone, and flint clay) which all give rise to very different wines. The winemaking follows ancestral principles while embracing modern techniques that preserve the full potential of the grapes. From the first wine, to the most beautiful cuvées, the grapes are harvested with the greatest care in manual harvesting, then transferred to tank by gravity alone. Without chemical yeasts, chaptalization, or any further additions, the grapes slowly turn into wine in the image of their original terroir. The clarification of the wine is natural and the cuvées raised in barrels are unfiltered. The resulting wine is an exact reflection of the terroir of the region.
