Pico Maccario

Two Brothers Highlighting Piedmontese Barbera

Born in 1997 in Mombaruzzo, this winery isn’t afraid to challenge norms. While its heart beats for Barbera — specifically Barbera d’Asti — it also dabbles in top-notch crus in Barolo and Barbaresco, thanks to its 2016 Langhe expansion. The result? A portfolio that balances old-world charm with next-gen vision. Led from the beginning by the brothers Pico and Vitaliano Maccario, the winery is a symbol of modernity both in the vineyards management and the production of wines.

Their icon, Lavignone, hails from a single 54-hectare block — the largest Barbera cru in existence — and drinks like a love letter to Piedmont. The wines are aged in stainless steel, large barrels, tonneaux or barriques, always in pursuit of the highest quality and respect for the original traits of the grapes. For this reason, Pico Maccario Winery dedicates itself to technological innovation and research in the vineyard, as innovative technology, if well-calibrated, is the main road for obtaining the highest productive quality.

Playful, precise, and proudly Piedmontese, Pico Maccario is putting Barbera where it belongs: center stage on the global wine scene.
