Quality Winemaking in the Heart of Gallura
Since the late 1800s the name Mancini has been synonymous with quality wine making, and this is no different with the youngest descendant, John Mancin, who founded Cantina Pedres Winery, located in the heart of Gallura. The company launched a line of high quality products made from selected grape varietals of Gallura in 2002. Following a century of providing grapes to other wineries, Cantina Pedres Winery has begun to make up for lost time, bottling wines directly on site.
The basic principle that drives Cantina Pedres is that the quality of the wine is determined in the vineyard. Sound and careful management of the vineyards and the constant implementation of new grape growing methods are only a small portion of what Cantina Pedres refers to as the quest for quality. The vineyards from which the grapes are located (about 40 ha of all properties) lie at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level, where the sunlit soil of granite and sand composition gives low yield of high quality.
The winery is equipped with French oak barrels, stainless steel tanks, and equipment that allows for cutting edge winemaking methods to be employed alongside the Old World procedures and techniques that the Mancini family has passed down for generations. This allows Cantina Pedres to provide the highest quality wines to satisfy any palate, from a novice to a seasoned connoisseur.
