Lisini
A Montalcino Estate Focusing on Sangiovese
The Lisini-Clementi family has owned lands in Montalcino since the sixteenth century, and the historic tower and loggia on the property has its beginnings in the 1300s. The first vines were planted here in the 1930s, well before the international craze for the area’s wines. Today, the estate totals roughly 150 hectares that surround the ancient farmhouse and winery, and brothers Carlo and Lorenzo, along with cousin Ludovica, continue the traditions of their forebears.
The vineyards are open to sea breezes coming from the Maremma, creating a unique microclimate that sets this area apart from other zones within the municipality. This exceptional terroir is characterized by reduced rainfall and a complete absence of fog. Altitudes here range from 350 to 500 meters above sea level—the ideal environment for cultivating Sangiovese, the only grape variety grown on the estate.
Through meticulous vineyard management that avoids any artificial forcing, minimizes the use of chemicals and embraces traditional winemaking alongside a rigorous selection of grapes during harvest, Lisini achieves absolute excellence in all its production. Fermentations take place in cement tanks, and all wines age in large Slavonian oak casks. The prime location of the vineyards and the superior quality of the grapes, combined with strict winemaking protocols, give rise to one of the finest and most renowned Brunello di Montalcino.
