René Lamy’s winery is located in the heart of the village of Chassagne-Montrachet and his family have been winegrowers here since the middle of the 17th Century. They own 15 hectares of vineyards, mostly in the appellations of Saint Aubin & Chassagne Montrachet, producing both white and red wines. They are also part of the 15 only privileged proprietors of the most prestigious Cotes de Beaune Grand Cru.
They are constantly seeking ways to refine and optimize not only the cultivation of the vines but also the winemaking and bottling processes. From bud to fruit, the hand-harvested grapes receive unwavering care. Year after year, their endeavor to improve and capture the essence of each vintage remains the aspiration of this estate.
Harvested by hand, transported in small containers to preserve each grape, and patiently sorted, the grapes transform into wine in the secrecy of the cellar, where every year, a different yet precise alchemy occurs. Mostly, these wines are aged in oak barrels, where their distinct characteristics transpire without force, to then unfold in the bottle, after a slow maturation process in the coolness and humidity of the cellars.
