At the southern end of the Mercurey appellation, in the town of Saint-Martin-sous-Montaigu, Philippe Garrey quietly makes some of the most profound wines in the region.  For six generations, members of his family have been working the vines in this area.  Philippe worked with his father until 2005, which is when his father retired and Philippe took full control. That same year he began using Biodynamic preparations and in 2011 he became the first producer in the Côte Chalonnaise to be certified Biodynamic.

 Philippe is dedicated to the health of his vines and soil and the purity of his fruit, which allows him to do very little in the cellar.  He gently guides the wines to become what they want to be, which is usually shimmering examples of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Aligoté.
