Domaine la Florane represents wines made from vines in two villages. Visan, a south-facing valley, has soil composed of sandy clay. The vines in Saint-Maurice enjoy plentiful sunshine while being sheltered from the wind. In 2001, the family’s two estates began using the same, specially-built cellar, but each estate kept its name. Then in 2019, they were united at last. The cuvée names are unchanged: Échevin and Guillaume de Rouville are still used for the wines from the Saint-Maurice appellation. Three generations of vignerons, two terroirs, but the same family spirit. And a shared philosophy that now underpins a single identity.
Organic and biodynamically farmed, they are Demeter and Biodyvin certified. The vineyard soils are tended by tilling or by sowing flowering grasses and are fed each year with a compost of local organic-certified ingredients.
The wines are vinified plot by plot, with minimal intervention. The small vats – concrete (ovoid), oak and stainless steel – allow the estate to retain its original intent: spotlighting the wines’ freshness, and the varietal and terroir traits that they express.
