Established in the 1930s, Ceretto is a revered producer from the Langhe with a sincere commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture, world-class hospitality, and to preserving the viability of its native terroir for future generations. Riccardo Ceretto, who did not own any vineyards, produced wine from grapes he purchased. The turning point came when his sons Bruno and Marcello purchased their family’s first single vineyard, named Bricco Asili, in the DOCG Barbaresco in 1968.
The third generation, Lisa, Roberta, Alessandro and Federico, joined the company in 1999, continuing the family’s legacy in winemaking. They have upheld Ceretto’s dedication to sustainable viticulture, ensuring all estate-grown fruit is cultivated organically. The Ceretto family implements various organic and biodynamic practices in their vineyards, including minimal tilling of the soil and planting nutrient-rich cover crops to preserve the balance between soil structure, microorganisms and the organic matter generated in the soil. They also implement ‘soft pruning’ to minimize stress on their vines and employ different biodynamic protocols to ensure optimal soil and plant health.
