Generations of Family Define Prestige Rosé
Domaines Ott has been pioneering prestige rosé wines since 1912. Founded in 1896 by Marcel Ott, descendants of the founder carry on the heritage of producing some of the world’s most prestigious wines from the French Riviera.
Over the course of almost 130 years, this commitment to the terroir and the typicality of its rosés, whites and reds has made the wines of Domaines Ott the flagships of the Côtes de Provence and Bandol AOCs. Today, the Ott family continues to pursue the single-minded ambition of its founding father: to craft very fine wines with respect for the soil and the vine. Each of the three estates has a unique vision of Provence and expresses this through its own particular soils and microclimates. Soils in these vineyards include stony soils containing gypsum, sandstone and red clay, clay-schist soil soils made up of limestone, and sandstone and marl with plenty of gravel.
Gentle, sustainable, organic winegrowing and winemaking practices have always been utilised on the estates. In keeping with an ethos based on craftsmanship and a bespoke approach, the family uses biodynamic-inspired practices that go well beyond the requirements of the certifications’ specifications.Ott vineyards are farmed organically and the average age of vines is 22 years. The grapes – sourced from their own vineyards and those of partner winegrowers – are carefully vinified and blended by their team. The wine is made under the strict supervision of fourth generation winemaker Jean-Francois Ott. The quality of the wine is perfectly homogenous and consistent, from the first to last bottling. Their minimal intervention but extremely rigorous work process is designed to preserve the soul of the fruit, its purest expression. Temperature control, gravity processes, and long aging periods all contribute to the excellence and unmistakable character of the wines from Domaines Ott.
