Birgit Eichinger and her husband, Christian, founded the winery in 1992, starting out with 3.5 hectares of vineyards from her parents' vineyards. Over time their holdings expanded. Today, fruit is sourced from more than 9 hectares in the best sites of Strass. Birgit’s daughter Gloria has now joined the winery, the two united by their shared passion for wine.
In the cellar of the stately vintner’s house at the foot of Ried Gaisberg, grapes from 16 hectares of vineyards in top single vineyards around Strass are processed, and Weingut Eichinger ranks among the most highly awarded wineries in the country. Birgit achieved this through immense energy, steadfast determination, and an uncompromising commitment to quality.
In the vineyard, they prioritise gentle soil cultivation with cover crops and erosion control, minimise the use of plant protection products and foster biodiversity. Selective hand harvesting ensures the quality of every grape. In the cellar, they have adopted a minimal-intervention approach: as little as possible, as much as necessary. Energy-efficient processes and natural stability over technical interventions define their path – for wines that preserve their origin and embrace the future.
