Alex Moreau is the son of famed Chassagne producer Bernard Moreau, and since 2021 he has bottled his own wines under the Alex Moreau label while continuing to work at the family domaine. His first solo bottlings, starting with the 2020 vintage, are already among the most sought-after new releases in Burgundy.
Working with family vineyards in Chassagne-Montrachet, Moreau farms premier cru and village parcels using lutte raisonnée (sustainable) practices. Winemaking follows classical Burgundian technique: hand-harvesting, native yeast fermentations, long lees contact, and aging in a low percentage of new French oak.
The wines are intensely mineral and built for age. They reflect the precision and finesse that made the Bernard Moreau wines legendary. With incredibly small production and growing demand, Alex Moreau is poised to be a defining voice in white Burgundy over the next decade.
