Named in honor of John Shenk, the founder of the original Michter's in Pennsylvania dating back to 1753, this annual limited release honors the hertiage ushered in with John's help of traditional sour mash whiskies with notes of honeyed oatmeal, peeled oranges and toasty oak spices graham cracker and stoned fruit.
This year’s recipe also includes caramel malted barley, which offers a caramel bread pudding note to balance the beautiful spice notes of the rye. Some of the fully matured whiskey was finished in toasted French oak barrels that were not charred. The rest was aged in charred american oak.
